About Us

In 1983, several families from the Thomasville area began home schooling their children.  There were many factors motivating this decision, but the primary one was spiritual in nature.  These families believed that there was nothing so important to their child as a deep relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, and that home instruction was the best way to nurture that relationship.

And out of that desire for support and fellowship with other homeschoolers, these families formed the Thomas County Home School Association, which became the Thomas County Home School Co-op in 1994.  The Co-op seeks to support and assist families engaged in the challenge of educating their children at home, ministering both to the parents' needs and to the students' needs.  There are many ways in which this organization attempts to accomplish this goal, many of which can be found in the "Services" Section.  Many more benefits could be available.  It all depends on the participation and the abilities of the members of the "Co-op".  The success of the group hinges on the dedication of its members.  In 1997, the Co-op went through another mild name change, from Thomas County Homeschool Co-op to Thomasville Regional Homeschool Co-op.  In 1995, there were around 35 families.  The following year in 1996, our membership number was up to 80 families.  These families not only reside in Thomas County, but also in Decatur, Grady, Brooks and Colquitt counties.
In 2007, the new name of CHART, Christian Homeschool Association of Regional Thomasville was adopted by the Board of Directors to reflect our Christian values in a more overt way. Also voted on to begin for the 2007-2008 school year is the Enrichment Program.  This is a program offered to 7th through 12th graders. The Enrichment Program will provide parents and teachers the opportunity to use God-given talents and abilities as a source of encouragement, strategy, and accountability for successfully completing higher level academic courses in science, mathematics, English, social sciences, and foreign languages. This program affords the opportunity to organize clubs, exhibitions, fairs, labs, lectures, and lessons and to enrich relationships within our group and the community.
